Richard Vargo Obituary

Richard (Dick) Vargo, 74 passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021, at his home in Lenox Township with family by his side.  He was born on April 27, 1946 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Martin and Margaret (Fitzer) Vargo.

On January 30, 1971 he married the love of his life, Darla (Davis) Vargo and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Richard served two years in the United States Army from 1965 – 1967. He owned and operated Vargo drywall construction company for over 35 years.

He had many hobbies and interests; he was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved being outdoors. He was a talented musician and loved singing and playing his guitar for family and friends.  He played in the Country Rain band in the 1980’s.

He also enjoyed watching the Browns and Buckeyes football games and sitting outside on the swing listening to Cleveland Indians games on the radio.

Richard is survived by his loving family: his wife Darla; his son Robert (Melissa) Vargo; two daughters: Kristie (Lenny) Rustic; Karrie (Ray Babb) Vargo; his brother John (Barbara) Vargo; his grandchildren Jackson Vargo, Logan and Whitley Rustic and several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank their wonderful neighbors for their love and support during his illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Esther Snyder-Giddings and a brother Martin Vargo.

Keeping with Richard’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Czup funeral Home 1329 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio, is honored to be able to handle the arrangements
